A couple of wind maps and links
I think these maps should be considered as they were on very different sites but they do indicate that without more transmission lines originating in the Upper Great Plains, the Saudi Arabia of Wind, increases the possibility that clean coal and nuclear power might establish itself on the east coast.

Yet you have to check out the stuff for windows; some is free, some is shareware. I use some of the software but not all, that would be too extreme.
